Born in China in 2013, Rui Liu demonstrated exceptional musical talent
from an early age. She began studying piano at the age of six under the
guidance of Dr. Jean-Fabien Schneider, a renowned pianist based in
Montreal. Dr. Schneider's mentorship ignited Rui's passion for music
and played a pivotal role in shaping her professional musical journey.
Thanks to her dedication and disciplined study habits, Rui was admitted
to the Conservatoire de musique du Québec at the age of nine.
Rui has earned significant recognition in various competitions. She was
a finalist in the Canadian Music Competition in Quebec City (June 2022)
and Toronto (June 2023). She was awarded the First Prize and the
Junior Grand Champion Trophy at the 2023 Montreal Classical Music
Festival (June 2023). She also won First Prize in the 7-to-12 Concerto
category at the 2024 Montreal Classical Music Festival (June 2024) and
claimed the Grand Prize in the 10-to-14 category at the Concours de la
Capitale, one of Quebec's most prestigious competitions (May 2024).
