Chopin Unknown: October 18

Updated: Oct 14

Join us on Friday October 18 at 7:30 pm at the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto, for "Chopin Unknown": a program presented by pianist Adam Zukiewicz featuring Iris Zhang. “Chopin Unknown” is a research performance project focused on presentations of the recently published study works of Chopin (Three Learned Fugues after Cherubini) and his more renowned compositions directly influenced by those. As Chopin returned to studies of counterpoint in the summer of 1841, his music became more intricate texturally and structurally, culminating in some of his most sophisticated, complex, and popular works. The Three Learned Fugues after Cherubini served as a model for Chopin’s compositional development, contributing greatly to the evolution of his late style. The publication of the Fugues by a Chopin scholar J. Eigeldinger (Société française de musicologie, 2017) is the first-ever publication of these studies of counterpoint transcribed by Chopin. Tickets are available at the door.

In addition, the Canadian Chopin Society is offering a limited amount of free tickets to members of the society, and in a social media giveaway.
