The Canadian Chopin Society is uniquely honored to have Dr. Alan Walker, author of the
definitive biography Chopin, A Life and Times, as a dedicated member and Honorary Fellow.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions and his unparalleled influence in the world of Chopin scholarship, the Canadian Chopin Society has named the First Prize of the Senior Division of the Sixth Canadian Chopin Piano Competition in honor of Dr. Alan Walker. The $10,000 cash award has been funded by the “Friends of Alan Walker” - colleagues, friends, and admirers of his work from coast to coast in Canada and the United States, as a tribute to his dedication to the legacy of Chopin.
The Dr. Alan Walker First Prize serves as both a celebration of his significant achievements and as a gesture of gratitude for the lasting impact of his work.
The winner of the Dr. Alan Walker First Prize is Ryan Wang, age 17, from Vancouver, BC.
