The Canadian Chopin Piano Competition takes place every five years, in conjunction with the International F. Chopin Piano Competition held in Warsaw, Poland. The competition is open to Canadian pianists, and there are three divisions; Junior, Intermediate, and Senior. Competitors perform works by Chopin for a jury of internationally renowned pianists: Krzysztof Jablonski (chair), Magdalena Baczewska, Avan Yu, Jane Coop, and Ian Hobson. The Intermediate Division features pianists born between 2007 and 2011. Twelve semi-finalists were selected by the jury from the virtual preliminary round to progress to the in-person round, held at Mazzoleni Hall at the TELUS Centre for Performance & Learning in Toronto, Ontario on January 12th where they performed selected works by Chopin. Five finalists were selected to perform one piece each in Koerner Hall. The jury selected the three winners of the Sixth Canadian Chopin Piano Competition, Intermediate Division along with a Jury Discretionary Award. All their performances can be found at our YouTube Channel.
