Athena Deng currently studies with Professor Dang Thai Son and Stanislav Ioudenitch in Oberlin Conservatory. She made her orchestral debut at age 11, playing Prokofiev Piano Concerto No.
3 in C major with the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra. Athena has also collaborated with orchestras such as the Volgograd Philharmonic Orchestra in Russia, the Uzbekistan National Symphony Orchestra, the Richmond Orchestra in BC Canada, and the Virginia Waring Orchestra in California. Athena has been awarded many important national and international prizes, including the first-prize winner of concerto and second prize of solo at the 2015 Virginia Waring International Piano Competition; the first prize in the 2017 Canadian Music Competition; the third
prize winner in 2021 William Knabe International Piano Competition; the second prize and the best performance of a
work by Karol Szymanowski in the 68th Kosciuszko Foudation Chopin International Piano Competition in 2024, etc. Athena has been selected and awarded scholarship to participate the Miami Frost Chopin Festival, the Lake Como Summer Festival, the Beijing
International Music Festival and the Southeastern Piano Festival. Athena was a member of the Young Artist Program in
Cleveland Institute of Music from 2017 to 2020 and has received extensive training in chamber music as well.
