13 year-old Audrey Tai has started her piano journey at the age of 6, and has been praised for her exceptional maturity and expressive talent. She currently studies with Dr. Libby Yu since 2021.
Audrey has accomplished many outstanding examination results and numerous First Place awards in local music competitions such as the Richmond Music Festival, Kiwanis Music Festival, the OYMI Competition, and the Architecture of Music Competition.
In the Canadian Music Competition in 2022, she earned the national First Place in the 10 years old category. Her heartfelt performance of the second movement of Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor achieved her the overall Grand Prize in the “10 years and under category” at the nationals held in Quebec City.
In addition, she has performed piano concertos as a soloist with the Surrey City Orchestra conducted by Maestro Ken Hsieh, and the Richmond Orchestra conducted by Maestro James Malmberg.
Audrey also has a broad interest in chamber music and orchestra as both a violinist and pianist, as well as reading and playing badminton.
