Seventeen year old Edward Duan was born in Vancouver and began playing the piano at the age of four. Recognized for his expressive and refined playing, he has won many top prizes in regional and national competitions, and was the recipient of the gold medal for the highest mark in British Columbia for his grades 8, 9, and ARCT Royal Conservatory of Music piano exams.
In 2018, Edward appeared as soloist with the Vancouver Academy of Music Orchestra at the Orpheum Theatre as winner of their concerto competition. As first place winner of the Crescendo International Music Competition, he performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2022. The following year, he qualified for the national Canadian Federation of Music Teachers Association competition where he was awarded first prize and additional prizes for his interpretations of Bach and Canadian works.
For the past seven years, he has studied with his teachers Kenneth Broadway and Ralph Markham.
