Jinghan Chu is a 12-year-old pianist and composer from Vancouver, Canada. She is currently studying with Dr. Libby Yu. Jinghan started her piano learning at four and as an enthusiastic classical music learner, a detailed observer and thinker in music theory, her composition has been on a journey to a new stage. She finished her first concerto debut with Richmond Symphony Orchestra in July 2023 and took an honor to play with Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra on May 24th, 2024.
Jinghan has won numerous awards in different music festivals and competitions, including the First Prize Winner of Crescendo International Piano Competition in New York in the years of 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024; Second Prize Winner of 2024 London Overseas’ Musician League International Piano Competition Final; First Place Winner of Sea to Sky International Piano Music Festival in 2024; First Place Winner of Kiwanis Festival in 2021, 2022 and 2023; First Place Winner as well as Contract Award Winner from OYMI Canada in 2022 and 2023, Top Twelve in Grade 9 for Music Lights the Way Piano Festival in Canada 2022, and many others. She has been invited to play piano solo in Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in 2021, 2022, 2023 and to Harvard Paine Hall on May 18th, 2024. Katherine also performed as a piano soloist in Queen Elizabeth Theater in Vancouver New Year’s Concert in January 2023.
Dedicated to developing her piano foundations, expressions and musical understanding, Jinghan hopes to bring the beautiful performance and enjoyment to the audience. In addition to piano area, Jinghan is also doing musical singing, dancing and has been awarded 2023-24 Maryam Mirzakhani AMC 8 Award as one of the top five scorers for American Math Competition world widely. Holding the true passion for learning and pursuing, Jinghan aspires to contribute to the community.
