Junchen (Jonathan) Wang was born in Beijing in April 3rd, 2013. He began playing piano at 4.5 years old and started standing on stage at 5 years old. Through his continuous effort, he has won a large number of top prize in piano competitions when he was in China. In 2019, he won the championship with the highest mark in 2019 Chopin Memorial Prizes Hong Kong International Piano Open Competition, which held once every two years. In the same year, he was respectively invited to cooperate with Beijing Accent Symphony Orchestra in Zhongshan Concert Hall and with Vienna Symphony Orchestra in Vienna Schloss Schönbrun.
Jonathan moved to Canada with his family in march of 2022. In May of 2022, Jonathan entered the Taylor Academy of RCM. As the youngest student in the piano faculty, he is studying under the tutelage of Langning Liu. During the academic year 2022-2023, Jonathan had got many local top prizes, including the first prizes in NYMF, OYMI, and Kiwanis Music Festivals. He got the second place in 9 years category in 2022 CMC with Mendelssohn concerto No.1, 2nd and 3rd movement. In the academic year 2023-2024, Jonathan got the second place in category 7-11 in the final round of Canada OMNI piano competition. He was give master classes by Li Wang, Michael Berkovsky, James Anagnoson and Anton Nel.
Jonathan loves stage and his dream is to becoming a professional piano performer in the future.
