Sabrina Chen

Born in Montreal, Canada, Sabrina started learning piano with Tina Kakabadze, and won her first competition six months later at the McGill conservatory. She went on an international student exchange program in the United States, receiving a certificate of achievement for “having demonstrated exceptional ability in the concepts of music”, and made her debut in Carnegie Hall when she was 7 years old. A year later, she entered the Crescendo International Music Competition and won first place, and performed once again in Carnegie Hall. At the McGill Concerto Competition 2010, she claimed first prize in the Junior Category, and won 2nd prize at the Canadian Music Competition in 2012.
In 2015, she was invited to perform in a TV show named “Virtuose” for “young, exceptionally talented musicians” presented by Radio Canada. In 2017, she was accepted into the Phil & Eli Taylor Performance Academy of RCM under the tutelage of Michael Berkovsky. In 2018, she was accepted to go to the Philadelphia International Music Festival, and was selected to perform in a masterclass for the assistant concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra. She has also attended Orford Academy, Amalfi and Vivace music festivals, studying with Ronan O’Hara, Jerome Lowenthal, Boris Slutsky, Hee-sung Joo and many other professors. Most recently she was at the Banff center for the arts as one of the 20 pianists selected, playing for Hung-Kuan Chen, Joanna MacGregor and Marc-André Hamelin. Other artists she has played for include Alice Sara Ott, Hugh Sung, David Louie and Ray Chen.
In 2023, she went to London for a semester at the Royal College of Music, studying with Dmitry Alexeev.
She is now pursuing her undergraduate studies with Olga Kern at the Manhattan school of music.
