Titus Lam
Junior Division
Waltz in C sharp minor, op. 64, no. 2
Impromptu in A flat major, op. 29, no. 1
Hello! My name is Titus Lam, I am an 11 years old pianist. I am currently studying piano with Dr. Jessica Zhang. When I was five years old I had my first touch of a piano key at a studio. I started loving this instrument ever since I knew that I could make such a beautiful sound from it.
I had my first public piano performance back in 2019 at a Christmas event. I played a piano duet “Here comes Santa Claus!” with my older brother. Since then, I have been enjoying performances and competitions. Public performances have become my motivation to aim for excellence for my practices and studies. Last year, I had the honour to receive the National Award in piano and performed in the RCM Celebration of Excellence recital. At the event, I was delighted to meet Dr. Janet Lopinski, who was very kind and encouraging. She also planted a seed in my heart to participate in the Canadian Chopin Competition.
I want to use the power of music to inspire and cheer for others. I also feel excited whenever I get inspired by others through music. The Canadian Chopin Competition is a great opportunity for me to share my music, as well as listening to other top of the class performances. I am really looking forward to it.
